critically injured. he is remembered as a -- many students expressed concern over the growing crime and now with the shooting the university president hired more officers and installed more blue light emergency phones. last month it was a robbery in a off campus apartment and shortly after that it was a home invasion at another off campus house. there was drug bust in the area. the university president says he is working to improve say. measures but some students say it's not enough. >> they are trying, but it seems like they don't have enough power to back it all up. so shall i appreciate the effort and it might cut down on the crime a little bit but i feel it won't make of an impact. >> reporter: chris for grew up in woodbridge, virginia -- christopher, grew up in woodbridge, virginia. funerals arrangements is this saturday in baltimore. the congressman and police are urging people to come forward

with any information that may help investigators solve the case. in the studio, linda so, abc2 news. >> thanks. it was just more than three years ago when congressman cummings held a man dying in his arms from a stabbing wound at a catonsville gas station. the victim was gassing up his car to take his pregnant wife to a hospital to have their child. the congressman pulled into the gas station moments after the attempted robbery and stabbing. the 19-year-old man died on mother's day and his wife gave birth to a baby boy. you probably heard the thunderstorms yesterday and took cover, but one man in pasadena was stuck outside and struck by lightning. this happened at fort smallwood park and witnesses say he washit so hard he was thrown out of his hughes. he ran -- shoes e ran to the end of the -- shoes. he ran to the end of the pier and they heard thunder and.

>> his shoes, he was knocked out of his shoes. his shoes wept one wan and he he went -- did went one way and he went the other way. i never seen it hit a person i never saw that. >> the victim was taken to shock trauma. we have not been able to confirm whether or not he is okay this morning. perfamily has not seen or -- her family has not seen or heard from her for a month 35- year-old kelly rothwell was seen in indian rock, florida. saturday her family and friends gathered at a community col neglect baltimore in essex releasing 16 balloons which her sisters says releases and gets rid of negative energy. rothwell was in florida training to become a police officer. baltimore -- a baltimore police officer is recovering after being involved in a crash. police say the officer was driving into an intersection on west pratt street when the cruiser was hit on the passenger side by an oncoming car. the female officer was taken to shock trauma as a precaution but we are told she is doing okay.
